PC is getting down and dirty and focusing on what they should be doing from the very beginning: price. Don't get me wrong, I'm pro Mac. But from an advertising perspective I've been dumbfonded by how Windows fights Apple's branding campaign with more confusing branding messages. I can almost hear the grumpy old client growling in the meeting room: 'Forget about the penguins! Just tell them we're cheaper!' Let the fight begin.
Looks like packaging design from a first year student.
Of course, if you've ever done a creative degree you'd realise that's actually a compliment. How many times have we came up with conceptual design only to be shunned by our tutors and lecturers claiming that 'it'd never run in real life'? What design magazines, award annuals, Stefan Sagmeister books do to our career is like porno to relationships: Things that'd never run in real life. That's why when I saw the Vogel cereal box in Safeway I was actually in awe and shock because it seemed so out of place. It doesn't look like crap.
Illustrator Andre Jordan just bought a house and will be renovating it room by room. Meanwhile he's also got a beautiful photo site. Andre is the creator of A beautiful revolution, which has illustrations like this:
This is an ad for pregnancy test. I don't belong to the demographic, but I'd assume getting tested for pregnancy is actually an anxious process. Why the humorous approach, not too sure. Initially I thought it was for super glue due to the product placement. It'd make more sense: 'Elephant, stick your head to where it belongs'.
There's been a PDF file of a story conference(warning: 125 pages) between 3 guys name George, Steven, and Lawrence available for download on the internet. It was recorded in 1978 regarding a movie titled 'Rangers of the Lost Ark'.
It's amazing how Spielberg's random little comments and suggestions actually made it on screen and 'made' the movies. Even more mind blowing is how they managed to forget everything while making the 4th film.
Saw this sign along Swanston yesterday which, in the end became something quite profound. So is this poster itself being anti-female, since anything that sells(in this case an ideology) falls into advertising?
Today I encountered a girl who resembles my first girlfriend in primary school. Of course, in reality she's been crowned Miss Chinese Pageant 2 years ago, but if she were to lead a different life and that life encompasses the possibility of residing in this city, she would look like this girl I've encountered today.
She was wearing this scarf. I can't imagine her wearing a scarf, because I remember how she liked the feeling of the breeze on her neck. She liked the swing on the playground. And I would always be the one pushing because let's face it, she couldn't have possibly pushed me. But if she were to develop a fondness in scarfs, I'd say she picked the right scarf.
I hesitated to talk to this girl. In the duration of the red man turning green I've tried different dialogues in my mind. I ended up walking behind her for 3 blocks. I mimicked her footsteps. For 10 minutes today, I was walking at the same pace as the girl who resembles my first girlfriend in primary school.
Girl:
Don't talk to me don't fucking talk to me don't get near me don't talk to me stay the fuck away go away don't talk to me please go away shit shit shit don't talk to me don't talk to me stay away stay away oh god stay the fuck away.
